I have issues with my jaw and have to make a cut into the apple skin to get any kind of grip on the thing. That said, knowing about the breaking an apple in half “hack” is still a pass because I've not only known about it since before I can remember, I used to show off in Highschool that I could do it. I don't even remember who taught me to do it. I STILL prefer getting my partner to cut it in half (I'm bedridden), or if he's busy I'll just carve some of the skin off with my nail and bite in from there. So even for someone this could be necessary, who has not only known about this, but has been able to do it themselves for the past 24-25 years at least and STILL found other, better ways to do so. All that said, it is a pretty badass parlor trick if you're a teenager lol.

My first New Year's Eve celebration after fleeing my abusive ex with nothing but my baby and the clothes on our backs, so also the first New Year's Eve I was allowed to drink; (I had a Christmas baby so I was best feeding the previous NYE and couldn't drink) my now partner of very nearly 14 years and I had no choice but to open the bubbly with three nails and a hammer. My point? Sometimes you need to open a corked bottle and no stopped are open. We would have shrugged it off and gone without but his parents were over at the time so we didn't want them to have to go without their New Year's _champagne_ (not the real stuff, obviously). I hadn't had the foresight to buy a bottle opener while getting the bubbly because I had one all my life up until that point, I just hadn't gotten a new one since fleeing my ex because I hadn't drank alcohol for two years at that point lol. I actually haven't drank alcohol in any meaningful capacity in over 10 years now too. I'm disabled and I don't want to deal with figuring out which of my over 16 pills a day may or may not mix well with alcohol, so I just don't drink. I'll have a stop of my partner's new beer he's trying, here and there, or I'll do the same with wines and spirits, but once not had even enough to fill a shot glass from any one of his bottles in that time. All that said? ... I still have the cork with multiple nails sticking out of it. I think of it as part of my success story.

I’m from Texas and completely agree about Whataburger. No idea how people say it’s the best. Only thing there worthwhile is the bbq chicken strip sandwich and the breakfast burger (not the breakfast on a bun which people confuse with it) patty melt is good too, that creamy pepper sauce is fantastic (also on the breakfast burger)

I think a good fry is an ultimate food and not easy. Mostly because getting the right potatoes in the US, never mind fresh, is very hard. I've made great fries and meh fries with the same method and one batch is great, another they are falling apart in par boil. Very challenging if you don't have "stable" potato source.

Joshua, I usually buy the pickles pre sliced like that, but I recently started chopping them into tiny cubes and then you just scoop them with the knife and lay on top of the sauce 🤌 this way when they start sliding out it's just few small pieces instead of the whole slice of pickle 😘🥒
